hi,my names is ed elliott im from alexandria,va.i have been detecting for 18 years mostly civil war.i started with 56oo di pro now i hunt with a xlt.some of my best finds are a avc button, virginia button, maryland button a complete us bit found at a gnrs hunt and a 1789 ny militia id badge.this will be my 3rd gnrs hunt and im looking forward to bringing home the trophy for whites.

Hello everyone!! My name is Jacob Malherbe and I am from Copenhagen Denmark, now living in sunny Florida. I have been metal detecting for about 10 years both in Europe and over here in Georgia and Florida. In the GNRS I will be using my DFX as that has been my land detector for the last 5 years.
I detect for coins and civil war stuff in GA, but here in Florida I do mostly water hunting for rings. The best relic find is a 1830 silver 5 franc found in Atlanta GA. Best value find was a mountain of 1000 kr bills found in the ground on a farm in Denmark, about 500,000 dkr in all. ($97,000) the old man that had buried it had long forgotten they where there but was very happy when I return them to him. A good reward was also receive and a life long story about the buried money is always there. I have a 12 year old daughter, 2 sons 8 and 2 and another daughter on the way in December. My wife is a metal detector herself and when she gets time will go to the beach with me to find rings.
I have done one North/South hunt in 2007 and this is my first GNRS hunt. Look forward to meeting you all.

I have been living in the low country for the last 4 years, Bluffton,
South Carolina. I moved from Colorado where I would nugget detect/pan
for gold using a Gold Master detector. Since moving, I bought a
Whites XLT and have enjoyed metal detecting for civil war items.

I have been hunting relics in Northwest Ar. for over 14 years now trying to find somewhere to hunt around here now has become very difficult! I have been fortunate to find a few places to hunt that were camps near two major civil war batlles, Pea Ridge and Prarie Grove. The good guys lost both unfortunately, but im an lucky both battles are close by! I have dug quite a few bullets mostly 69’s all Yanks but i still love em anyway! Everytime i unearth one is always takes a lil breath away! I have been on 3 N/S but this will be my first GNRS and im really looking forward to it. I have never been to Sc either so can’t wait to see all I have heard so much about and seen on here from the low country. Look forward to all the fun this year and helping team White’s win this year hh hunting to all! Ed

2100 year old gold coin I found in England last month
I bought my first metal detector in 1966, a Fisher M-Scope model T-30, and have been detecting off and on since then, and fairly steady for the last 25 years. Besides hunting in the lower 48, I travel to Alaska, England, Czech Republic and some of the Islands to vacation and detect. The machines I use are all White’s detectors. I use the DFX for beach hunting and parks, the MXT for relic hunting and gold, the GMT for smaller gold, and I am now learning the new V3. This will be my first GNRS hunt and I can hardly wait.

I bought my first detector a White’s Coinmaster 2900/D in 1986. I really got serious detecting in 1998 when I bought my XLT. I was very fortunate to spend the majority of my 22 year career in the Navy in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. My oldest coin is a 1799 Spanish Real plus I also found a cut piece of Spanish coin dating from around 1735. I have found hundreds of Civil War relics including a Virginia and a Connecticut State seal button and a few CS buttons. I located a previously undetected civil war campsite in Chesapeake, Virginia and found 57 dropped minie balls in one hole. I currently use the MXT and I look forward to meeting all of the great people on the Depot and helping Team White’s win the trophy at next year’s GNRS!
